AICP - 2016 Reel - Dir Cut. from Method Design on Vimeo.

Method Design was tapped by production company RSA to concept and create this year’s AICP Sponsor Reel. The AICP awards celebrate global creativity within commercial production. Method Design wanted to create an entertaining piece of design that encapsulates the innovative and prolific nature of this industry. Our aim was to showcase the AICP sponsors as various dancing avatars, which playfully reference the visual effects used throughout production. Motion capture, procedural animation and dynamic simulations combine to create a milieu of iconic pop dance moves that become an explosion of colorful fur, feathers, particles and more.

Safety & Security

The visual design of this video draws upon ideas of surveillance, control and safety, which are standards that Taiwan’s security industry consistently achieves. The main character of the video, the robot of the future, well symbolizes the concept of intelligent security surveillance. The robot’s design is inspired by shell creatures to help create an image of safety and protection.

Mercedes-Benz The new A-Class “A-Feeling”

Mercedes Benz 2015 A-Class Facelift Launch Campaign Video from JL DESIGN on Vimeo.

A new generation of A-Class was revealed in 2012, 3 years on, a new model is being introduced, and it is the first time that Mercedes-Benz Taiwan created a brand new TV commercial for the A-Class, targeted at the younger generation. From the perspective of man’s basic reaction to adrenalin rush, whether it’s the rush of blood or muscle tightening or having goosebumps or pupil dilating, these reflexes are a natural reaction to the beastly nature of the A-Class. Even as you quietly observed the car, you cannot help but feel the power and the visual impact of the A-Class.

Simon and Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence (Original Version from 1964)

Lyrics: Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools," said I, "you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sound of silence"

This is the original version from 1964 from the album "Wednesday Morning, 3 AM." Just Simon's guitar and the vocals. The famous version was released in 1966. After "Wednesday Morning, 3 AM" flopped, they split up. Without either their knowledge, electric guitars and drums were added and that version of The Sound of Silence became very popular, reaching #1 on the charts in America on New Years Day, 1966. Because of this, Simon and Garfunkel teamed up again and created three more studio albums, one of which one a Grammy award for album of the year and song of the year (Bridge Over Troubled Water).

vitreous | robert seidel | experimental film 2015

vitreous | robert seidel | experimental film 2015 from Robert Seidel on Vimeo.

Film: Robert Seidel _ www.robertseidel.com
Music: Nikolai von Sallwitz _ www.vonsallwitz.com

The nine virtual sculptures underlying vitreous resulted from experimental setups by Robert Seidel for generating three-dimensional clusters of fibrous refractions, as well as the gravitational lensing of different volumetric and chromatic densities. Singular elements gravitate towards each other, accumulating in a gigantic sculptural system, where each entity exists with its own visual axis and vanishing point. The impalpable luminous formations create prismatic interactions between the ridges and plateaux of the main colours floating in front of the infinite violet background.

The multilayered, continuously expanding and decaying system is driven by semi-chaotic processes with localized impulses and their speculative chain reactions. In the spectrum of these possible movements, each singular sculpture becomes an integral component of the whole pictorial force-field. In its asymmetrical orchestration and multitude of spatial-temporal interactions, the abstract-organic images are close in appearance to the concepts of “moving paintings” and “living sculptures” Seidel develops for more than a decade now.

Originally vitreous was conceived as a media façade artwork of 80 × 24 × 14 Meters (Target City Lights, Minneapolis, USA, 2012). It later developed in a large-scale projection of 4 × 14 Meters (German Filmmuseum, Frankfurt, Germany, 2015). The short film released in December 2015 features a music score exclusively composed by Nikolai von Sallwitz.
